The Daily Mail reports that American actress Julianne Moore has spoken out about her divorce from ex-husband John Rubin. The actress, who is in the running to win an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Still Alice, has already picked up a Golden Globe award for the same performance. During a recent interview, Moore discussed her publicized divorce and offered insight into the pain and heartache she felt as her marriage disintegrated in the public eye.
Moore told reporters she felt lonely and unhappy and that she was lacking the personal life she had always wanted. Her goal was to build a thriving career, but it turned out to be a job that she was no longer passionate about; what she really wanted was a family. Moore dated John Gould Rubin for 2 years before she married him at the age of 25.
They eventually separated, and they finalized their divorce a few years later. According to Moore, she turned to therapy for assistance, and she claims it helped her significantly during the trying time. Moore then met director Bart Freundlich just a year after her divorce.
They later married and have been together ever since. She has been with Freundlich for 19 years total, married to him for 11. They also have two children, and she claims to be very happily married now.
