Everyone remembers the iconic TLC reality show of the 2000’s in which a happily married couple face the challenges of raising sextuplets and twins. Jon, Kate, and their eight children have had their share of challenges. In 2009 the couple divorced, and gossip crazed fans relished in the drama which caused the hit reality show to end.
Now, there is a whole new legal battle ensuing over a book that was authored by Robert Hoffman, a tabloid reporter. The book, entitled “Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World”, is a tell-all apparently revealing nasty personal information about the woman.
According to the NY Daily News, Kate Gosselin filed an eighteen page lawsuit on August 26, 2013 alleging that the information in the book was illegally acquired. The suit claims that Jon Gosselin hacked into her personal information and stole a hard-drive in order to feed demoralizing personal information to Hoffman, his friend and business partner.
The lawsuit clams that, “After the couple was separated, Jon illegally hacked into Kate’s email account and her phone and bank accounts.” And that, “Hoffman used illegally acquired data to publish a defamatory book about Kate.”
The damage caused by the release of personal negative information couldn’t be taken back even when the book was removed from shelves. On top of the book, which describes information from one of Kate’s personal journals in which she spanked her children with a wooden spoon repeatedly, Hoffman made public statements about his book and the information it contained.
In an interview with Star Magazine last September, during the book release, Hoffman spouted, “She uses that ‘spanker’ on a daily basis for anything and everything… [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][The] spanking entries are endless.” Kate’s lawsuit also includes claims that, “[Hoffman] publically described his ongoing friendship with Jon Gosselin and even bragged he was in possession of 5,000 family photos, personal documents, tax and business records plus contracts-on information and belief, they were acquired from Jon Gosselin, and were acquired with the knowledge that Jon obtained them illegally.” The lawsuit asks for damages plus attorney’s fees.
